In 2018 I began Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training at Falmouth Yoga Space in Falmouth, Cornwall. https://falmouthyogaspace.co.uk An amazing experience that opened up a whole new chapter in my life.
In 2019 I completed the 250 hour, level 1, Vinyasa Yoga teacher training programme that gave me an in depth understanding of yoga poses, yoga breathing, meditation, anatomy and physiology.
In 2019 I also completed an 80 hour, level 2, Restorative Yoga teacher training at Falmouth Yoga Space. See below for more information on this relaxing and restful practice.
In May 2022 I completed a 100 hour, Yin Yoga teacher training with Grace Tempany. https://gracetempany.com
Yin accesses the deeper connective tissue in the body called the fascia. This happens by coming into a pose, finding a level of sensation that feels like it's 'your edge', but not painful, and holding it in stillness from anywhere to 3 to 15 minutes. The poses generally tend to be floor poses. Yin is about going within, finding stillness and encourages self awareness. Yin Yoga has many physical and mental wellbeing benefits.
This is a style of yoga that aligns the breath with flowing movement from one yoga pose to the next.
My style of vinyasa is Slow Flow which is a gentler pace of vinyasa yoga. I usually theme my classes on an aspect of yoga philosophy and focus the practice on one area of the body i.e. hips, shoulders, core etc., helping you to build strength, flexibility and mobility in these areas.
My classes also focus on pranayama and breath awareness and will always be the starting point for the class.
Restorative yoga is about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching. Poses are held for a longer time . However, your muscles are allowed to relax deeply because props such as bolsters, blocks or books, blankets and cushions, rather than your muscles, are used to support your body.
I read some poetry while you're relaxing and there's a gloriously long Savasana at the end.
It's quite a unique experience and a perfect end to your day to relax, renew, rejuvenate and restore your body and mind.
The Restorative class today was exactly what I needed. I had a headache, my shoulder muscles were so stiff that stretching hurt and my whole body felt a bit drained. All gone after your class. Thank you. Stephanie, Netherlands
Went to my first session with Sandra this evening. Her beginner's class was fantastic and although I've done yoga before, I still learned so much from the session. Thank you Sandra, I'll definitely be coming back. Julia, Helston Holistic Therapies, Cornwall
Sandra is friendly and her sessions are fun and set at a level to include all ages. Irrespective of ability she encourages everyone in a calm, positive and gentle way.
The studio at the Grove is spacious and the decor and aspect onto the countryside instils a calmness. I can highly recommend this class. Nick, Porthleven, Cornwall
Super friendly tuition in an amazing space at The Grove, I would recommend Sandra's yoga to anybody of all skill levels. Will, Penzance, Cornwall
I love Sandra's Beginners Yoga at the Grove. The classes are light- hearted, friendly and well structured. Sandra pays great attention to detail, allowing us to move correctly within our limits, gradually increasing our strength and flexibility. I really enjoy the Tuesday session, and look forward to joining Sandra's classes at Jubilee Pool in the near future. I definitely recommend that you give her classes a go.
Kath, Penzance, Cornwall
I regularly attend Sandra’s Beginner's Yoga classes and even as a non beginner I find them to be incredibly informative, strengthening and relaxing. I would definitely recommend. Suzi, Perranuthnoe, Cornwall
I have just started Sandra's online classes, works really well doing it from the comfort of my own home (although it is the only option at the moment). Each step is well articulated and easy to follow, her style of delivery works really well, looking forward to many more! Charlotte, Cornwall
I had my first online yoga class with Sandra this evening and really enjoyed it. I love Sandra's style of teaching, which is structured, friendly, professional and hugely beneficial. I didn't even have to leave my home in Ireland to enjoy this class! I would highly recommend Sandra's yoga class from anywhere in the world! Orla, Ireland
Sandra's online classes are so great! They are easy to follow yet challenging enough. She explains all the asanas, talks you through it and shows them clearly so you can make sure you do them in the right manner. The classes help me to stay in the flow and are a good variation to my own practice. And even though we see each other through a screen, there is a group feeling which makes it so enjoyable in these times. Besides it's fun to be able to join from another country (Netherlands) 😉 I really hope you will keep giving classes and there will be a time when I'll join a live class 😉
Thank you so much for the yoga on Wednesday, I'd been having a complete meltdown and feeling so stressed out I didn't think I'd ever feel normal again. But within a few minutes of your class I had a wonderful feeling of calm, and it's so far stayed with me! Clearly I need to make regular yoga part of my routine in such stressful times. Charlotte, Kent
